Natural Resources Canada Energuide numbers for every vehicle in Canada are based on a specific testing methodology that measures fuel performance based on a “typical” drive cycle. Each consumer has a unique drive cycle of stop/go, urban/highway, and winter/summer conditions that determines a specific vehicle’s fuel performance and how close it will "match" the Energuide ratings.2004 Chevrolet Silverado/ GMC Sierra Hybrid First Available Fuel DataThis data reflects the first available information on the real world performance of the Silverado/Sierra Hybrid. The Silverado/Sierra Hybrid was released to selected organizations prior to the official market launch in October 2004. The City of Calgary received 5 GMC Sierra Hybrids in July 2004. Accurate fuel records were available for four of the hybrids. In this limited sample it appears that the vehicles are operating within an acceptable range of the Energuide ratings given that the vehicles are just being "broken in".
